Paimon is the first person the Traveler encountered when descending into the world of Teyvat in Genshin Impact. While fishing on the sandy shores of Mondstadt, the Traveler reeled in Paimon with his fishing rod and initially believed her to be a large fish. However, Paimon quickly made her presence known, and the two quickly became traveling partners. Two years later, Paimon continues to support the Traveler in Sumeru, which was introduced in Genshin Impact version 3.0. Many mysteries exist involving Paimon and her potential upbringing, but the Traveler and his allies continue to place good faith in her.

Genshin Impact player and Reddit user u/Aerbow recording a gameplay clip of Paimon falling out of the sky when the Traveler began speaking to Fukumoto, an Inazuman Genius Invokation TCG enthusiast. Typically, Paimon pops out of hiding and floats beside the Traveler when the player talks to NPCs in Genshin Impact. She also appears when the player pauses the game, and disappears quickly after the game resumes play. However, she is shown rapidly descending when talking to Fukumoto instead of simply appearing as normally intended.

Genshin Impact’s Paimon is often part of theories due to her potential connections to ancient beings known as Moon Sisters. Paimon doesn’t appear to remember anything before meeting the Traveler in Mondstadt, so she’s often discussed in the community as a being that descended from Celestia as well. Coincidentally, u/Aerbow jokingly refers to Paimon’s descent as a new model beamed down from Celestia, likely making reference to ongoing speculation and theories surrounding the character.

Genshin Impact has its fair share of oddities from time to time, and Paimon falling out of the sky is certainly a strange sight. It may be due to Genshin Impact’s game engine processing Paimon’s appearance in dialogue rather quickly, but it’s a curious detail all the same.

Paimon will talk to many more NPCs when the next Sumeru expansion arrives in Genshin Impact version 3.4. Alhaitham and Yaoyao will make their long-awaited debut in the new update, so players can look forward to testing their luck in the brand-new event wishes.

Genshin Impact is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. A Nintendo Switch version is in development with no confirmed release date.
