Decision-making in the flex spot becomes even more important when bye weeks begin in earnest. Week 5 represents the first week of planned byes, and the Packers and Lions won’t be playing. As a result, Aaron Jones, Davante Adams, Kenny Golladay, Marvis Jones, T.J. Hockenson, Robert Tonyan, Adrian Peterson, and D’Andre Swift will be absent from our rankings. All eight of those players would draw starter consideration from owners in a normal week, so the ranks are thinned a bit making our Week 5 flex rankings even more important than usual....

Trevor Story overcame his high price in Week 5 and delivered a .320/.370/.600 slash last week, making him worth the high salary, while he Cubs exploded for 18 runs against the Pirates over the weekend as the team to target....
Counting on three Miami players at least gives us a lot of salary to work with elsewhere, so we’ve fit Alvin Kamara, Davante Adams and A.J. Brown into our lineup. One of the most exciting announcements aside from the release date for Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 was the confirmation that Venom, Spider-Man’s symbiote nemesis, would make his grand entrance onto the scene. Venom the character has gotten a great deal of spotlight in the last few months, as Venom: Let There Be Carnage, the sequel to 2018’s Venom, released earlier this month. Another game that we’ll also want to load up on is the Bengals-Packers. The Packers wide receiver group is banged up right now, but that may open up some excellent value if either of Jordy Nelson or Randall Cobb is ruled out. Also, don’t sleep on a Bengals stack. I know that they have been absolutely terrible over the first few weeks, but Andy Dalton has shown to be a capable quarterback over the course of his career and Green Bay’s secondary remains among the worst in the league....
